For the last round of 2016 Golden Gate Drift, we returned to Thunderhill Raceway. Drivers have seen many different configurations of the West course. For the final round, turns 8W-10W in the standard counter-clockwise layout were used.
The 2016 Top Drift season is officially over with Just Drift having wrapped up their final Formula Drift Pro-Am competition of the year. With that, we see 2 sets of victors at the conclusion of last Saturday’s event: the winners of Round 4, and those who have earned a passport to move on to Formula Drift Pro 2. All in the name of fun, that’s what Street Driven Tour is about. It’s been a while since we’ve hit up a Street Driven event, September 2015 in Vegas to be exact, so when we were invited to join in on the fun at Atlanta Motor Speedway, we jumped on the opportunity to have a good time checking out cars and watching drivers kill tires.
Last weekend we joined Just Drift for the 3rd and final round of Top Drift Limited, a series dedicated to lightly modified production-like vehicles and geared toward the up and coming drivers who may want to compete in pro-am in coming years. We wanted to go out to Willow Springs and support our home drift organization, and ended up having a great time hanging out and watching some grassroots style drifting.
Top Drift, the Formula Drift licensing series, made it’s way to Walt James Stadium on Saturday, and although the track is our least favorite at Willow Springs Raceway, the driving and results were as exciting as ever. Check out the gallery for tons of photos of all the action.
Golden Gate Drift made it’s way back to Thunderhill Raceway Park on July 10th, 2016 for the 3rd round of the Formula Drift Pro-Am series. Going into the third round, Julian Dumay was leading the series in points, and names such as Travis Ragona, Chris Bixler, Joe Tardiff, and Nate von Tuchlinski were nipping at his heals for the lead. The last time we visited Thunderhill, was for Golden Gate Drift Round 1 back in April, and boy has the scenery dried out and changed since.
